One of the few polyurethane exhibits at NPE 2009 will be the joint display of PUR processing equipment by OMS S.p.A. of Italy and its U.S. representative, Polyurethane Process Industries, LLC (PPI), Latrobe, Pa. OMS and PPI will emphasize two application areas--insulating foam panels and cast elastomers. As we reported in April, OMS recently formed a new Automation division dedicated to cutting and handling systems for panels. That allows PPI to offer complete turnkey panel lines. At NPE, OMS will show its Y2K 10 straight, compact high-pressure mixhead, suitable for continuous and discontinuous panel production. Also on display will be the C2 Micro Dosing low-pressure mixhead (photo), suited to small elastomer parts, gaskets, and filters. The jacketed head has an output range of 2 to 20 g/sec, fixed orifices, chemical recirculation, and an internal pneumatic piston that actuates both chemical pistons together to eliminate lead/lag problems.
