WEB EXCLUSIVE: New versions of two software programs for managing mold maintenance were introduced at the recent NPE show in Chicago by Progressive Components, Wauconda, Ill. ProFile 6 is an electronic log book with a text field in which to type data such as the last maintenance action for a tool and the next one due. When that action comes due, the user is prompted when ProFile is launched. It also contains a contact database with vendor and customer information for each tool, as well as work orders and memos, embedded spreadsheets to store tool-specific data, and an integrated bill of materials that gives cost histories for mold components. Version 6 offers more standard reports and more streamlined data entry of work orders, memos, and scheduled actions. The program costs $495 for a site-wide license (any number of users). Upgrade cost from a previous version is $75.

������������ More comprehensive reports and user-customized data entry are provided by new MoldTrax 5 from MoldTrax in Ashland, Ohio, and distributed by Progressive Components. It standardizes data input for different users by means of drop-down tabs that contain user-determined terminology for defects, corrective actions, and tooling components. Version 5 contains larger screens that are easier to read, upgraded security features, new cycle-time reports for analyzing mold performance, and hyperlinks to support documentation located on the same computer or anywhere on the Internet. Another new feature allows users to add or change all terminology from one screen. MoldTrax 5 costs $2500 for five seats at one facility.
