Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd., Bolton, Ont., says it will de-emphasize production of large injection presses in order to concentrate on its core packaging markets, including PET preforms, closures, and thin-wall products. Its Luxembourg machine operation, which has been its center for building large-tonnage presses, will be transformed into a facility that produces Husky systems for the European market. The announcement affects production of Husky鈥檚 Quadloc models from 1350 to 5000 tons, although the company says it will support existing customers using its large presses and will offer repeat customers its Index and Tandem technologies on the larger press sizes, as well as tooling, hot runners, and metal molding systems for the automotive market.
