New LSR Technical Center Opens in Ohio
Shin-Etsu facility houses two molds, Arburg press, Elmet dosing system.
Last month, Shin-Etsu Silicones of America opened its LIMS Technical Center close by its Akron, Ohio, headquarters. To support LSR injection molding, the 13,000-ft2 facility houses a 110-ton Arburg all-electric injection press and Elmet dosing system. Two molds are available—a four-cavity baby-bottle nipple tool with cold-runner valve gates, and a single-cavity mold designed for overmolding LSR onto thermoplastic inserts using Shin-Etsu’s primerless Selective Self-Adhesive LSR.
Craig Lustek, LIMS process engineer (pictured), will manage the center. He has 11 years’ experience in process engineering, manufacturing, and R&D, and most recently was product manager for dosing equipment supplier 2KM US, Inc. Lustek aims to add more equipment to the center, possibly including vertical and multi-shot presses.
