Polyester Alloy Resists Harsh Hospital Cleaners
It can be molded in existing PC/ABS tools but resists stress-cracking.
At last month’s MD&M East show in N.Y.C., , Winona, Minn., introduced a polyester alloy designed to resist stress cracking from exposure to harsh cleaners used in hospitals to prevent spread of infectious microbes. Repeated applications of those cleaners have caused cracking problems with existing materials such as PC/ABS. Available in pellet and sheet form, the new RTP 2000 HC (Hospital Cleaner) series is UV stabilized and also available in a flame-retardant version (UL 94V-0 at 1.5 mm and 5VA at 3.0 mm). Colors can be added. It is designed to replace PC/ABS and can even be molded in existing PC/ABS tools.
