Prices Up for Nylons, Polyesters, Acetals & More
WEB EXCLUSIVE: This month, prices are due to rise for engineering thermoplastics, composite thermosets, and UHMW-PE:•DSM Engineering Plastics said it would hike nylon 6 resins early this month by 12¢/lb, following a similar move by BASF in March.
•DSM Engineering Plastics said it would hike nylon 6 resins early this month by 12¢/lb, following a similar move by BASF in March. However, BASF also posted another 5¢ increase in nylon 6 (and 8¢ for nylon 66) for Apr. 15.
•BASF also raised its Ultramid T high-temperature nylon by 30¢, PBT and PET compounds by 20¢, and acetal by 10¢/lb. Ticona likewise raised PBT and PET, as well as polyester TPEs, by 20¢/lb.
•Ticona’s GUR UHMW-PE and GHR VHMW-PE will rise up to 28¢/lb on May 1.
•Unsaturated polyesters, vinyl esters, and gel coats are also up again. Increases of 6¢ for polyesters, 8¢ for vinyl esters, and 12¢ for FR grades were announced by AOC, Interplastic, and Reichhold.
