Train Employees, Test Products at Texas Film Lab
Three-layer line available for rent at D.R. Joseph facility.
Bubble cooling and control specialists D.R. Joseph, Inc. is making available its recently opened lab to blown film processors that want to train employees or test new products. ’s lab, located at its headquarters in Arlington, Tex., is equipped with a three-layer line featuring three 0.75-in. (20-mm) extruders with 30:1 L/D barrier screws, a 2-in. (50-mm) die, dual-lip air ring, and a range of other components. Film can be produced at rates to 20 lb/hr at layflat to about 9 in. (225 mm). The die gap is 0.07 in. (2 mm), and can be changed to 0.06 in (1.5 mm) or 0.04 in. (1 mm) on request. A guided winder for tubing only is integrated with the line.
The lab, which is available to processors on a rental basis, comes with a range of QC instruments for measuring thickness and testing for tensile and peel strength, Elmendorf tear, dart impact, coefficient of friction, haze/gloss, and more.
