BASF and Chinese Compounder Partner to Develop High-Quality Recycled Plastics Compounds
Zhejiang REEF Technology to use BASF’ IrgaCycle sustainable additives in its recycled thermoplastic compound.

BASF has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Chinese compounder Zhejiang REEF Technology Co., Ltd. to develop state-of-the-art recycled thermoplastic compounds for use in automotive, packaging and consumer applications. Under the agreement, BASF will provide its IrgaCycle range of additives along with technical consultancy and support for recycled polymer formulations conducted at BASF’s test facilities.
Launched last year, the IrgaCycle range of additive formulations is targeted to recyclers, compounders and converters that want to incorporate higher content of recycled plastics in all major applications. As previously reported, the IrgaCycle range includes formulated additives that can help increase the percentage of recycled content in several end-use applications such as packaging, automotive & mobility, and building & construction. These solutions reportedly address specific quality issues associated with recycled resins, such as limited processability, poor long-term thermal stability and insufficient protection from outdoor weathering.
Zhejiang REEF Technology Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Veolia Huafei Polymer Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., a joint venture company of the French Veolia Group in China. It focuses on the R&D and production of high-end engineering plastic modified materials. REEF’s core products include recycled PP, HDPE, ABS, and nylons.
