Indorama and Evertis Collaboration Aims for PET Film From Recycled Trays
Indorama and Evertis announced they will collaborate to make food packaging film from recycled PET trays.
Resin producer and film producer announced they will collaborate to bring recycled PET from trays to food packaging barrier films.
After six years of research and development, Indorama Ventures is commercially producing recycled PET flakes from post-consumer trays in its Verdun facility in France. According to the company, quality is comparable to that of recycled PET flakes from post-consumer bottles. The technology has the potential to divert 50 million post-consumer PET trays from landfills and incinerators.

The partnership is expected to support the EU’s recycling goals by providing more sustainable options for consumers and enabling packaging producers to reach their goals of incorporating recycled content. Evertis’ own goal is to incorporate 50% recycled content in its products by 2025.
The European Union has set use and, starting in 2021, requires each member state pay a contribution proportional to the weight of non-recycled packaging produced.
