Packaging Producer Will Expand Recycling Capabilities at Indiana Plant
Novolex will spend $10 million on film recycling.
, a producer of food service and industrial packaging products, announced it will invest $10 million to expand its capacity to recycle plastic bags and other PE film at its facility in North Vernon, IN.
The additional mechanical recycling equipment will expand capacity by 28 million lb/yr, resulting in an overall capacity of 40 million lb/yr of recycled content made from PCR and postindustrial material.

The new equipment is expected to begin coming online in stages during the 4th quarter of 2022 and reach full capacity by the end of 2023. Novolex says the new equipment will expand the range of materials that it can recycle, which will include plastic bags, pallet wrap, agricultural film, and more.
In the company’s 2021 sustainability report, Novolex reported that 28% of the resin it used was coming from recycled content.
