Westec Plastics Adds Three Two-Shot Injection Molding Machines
The Livermore, Calif. custom molder has added three multimaterial Arburg injection molding machines as part of a $3 million investment in its facility and capital equipment.
Westec Plastics recently announced the addition of three new Arburg two-shot injection molding machines—two 550-ton presses and one 275-ton press—with each machine featuring indexing platens to rotate molds to receive multiple shots.
In addition to capital equipment investments, Westec also continues to expand its facility, adding 9200 ft2 since 2020, to boost its total footprint to 46,080 ft2. The company’s newest manufacturing cells, include an ISO Class 8 cleanroom for the 2-shot molding machines, a new ISO Class 7 cleanroom for secondary operations, two ISO Class 8 portable clean rooms, and an extension of its ISO Class 8 hard-walled molding cleanroom.
A new Keyence IM-7030T Instant Measurement System was installed in the quality department, while secondary operations have been extended to include a KP08 Cupslide Pad Printer, a Branson Mini II Linear Vibration Welding Machine, a Branson Ultrasonic Welder, and a Minilase XL Laser Engraver. In addition, three new cobots and three cartesian robots have been added in support of the manufacturing capacity boost.
