Cobot Line Increases Top Speed
Universal Robots says for pick-and-place applications, the new UR15 delivers up to 30% cycle time improvements compared to prior UR models.
Collaborative robot (cobot) supplier Universal Robots (UR) introduced the UR15 at the Automate event this May in Detroit. Available for orders with shipping to begin in June, the new cobot features a maximum tool center point (TCP) speed of 5 m/s, making it UR’s fastest ever cobot.
For pick-and-place applications, the UR15 provides up to 30% cycle-time improvements compared to other UR models. UR says that combining it with OptiMove, the company’s new motion control technology, enables greater trajectory smoothness and consistently accurate movements, including in high-speed and high-payload applications.

The AI-ready UR15 runs with both PolyScope 5 and PolyScope X, UR’s software platforms. The software enables the UR15 to be used with the UR AI Accelerator, UR’s tool kit for developing AI-powered applications. Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA, the platform applies NVIDIA Isaac’s CUDA-accelerated libraries and models, while running on the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin system on module.
The UR15 has a payload of 15 kg (33 lbs), which can be increased to 17.5 kg (38.58 lbs) for applications with wrist-down orientation, such as palletizing. UR notes that the UR15 offers improved ingress protection, IP65 and high payload capability, combined with easy deployment. The cobot’s reach covers 51.18" (1,300 mm) and the unit itself weighs just under 90 lbs.
