An expanded range of long fiber reinforced nylon and TPU compounds with a broad range of post-industrial recycled (PIR) content is newly available from Avient. The new formulations can use varying PIR levels--from 25% to 100% recycled content for nylon 66 and 25% to 75% recycled content for TPU compounds. These variations allow for material customization to meet performance and sustainability requirements. This expands the product line that launched earlier this year with nylon 66 resin derived from reclaimed end-of-life fishing nets.

Providing stiffness, strength, and toughness, these new sustainable grades reportedly offer properties comparable to those of standard nylon 66 and TPU long fiber formulations using virgin resin. These composites boast structural characteristics that make them ideal alternatives in metal replacement applications—such as adventure gear and office furnishings, allowing customers to achieve significant weight reductions along with the time and cost-saving benefits of single-step injection molding fabrication. Formulations are available globally in black and natural color and in typical reinforcement percentages of long glass fiber, long carbon fiber, or hybrid combinations.
