Redesigned Laser Scanner Boasts Improved Accuracy, Resolution, Versatility, and Efficiency

The LC15Dx laser scanner, manufactured by , has been a global benchmark for efficient measurement and inspection of manufactured components, especially those having complex freeform geometry such as turbine blades, orthopedic implants and intricate plastic parts. The company has introduced a newly redesigned version which boasts improved accuracy, resolution, versatility, and efficiency. Compatible for use with all industry-leading metrology platforms and software, the new LC15Dx sensor features functionality that has been significantly updated in several key areas, including:
â–ª ISO Probing Size Error All accuracy improved from 15 µm to 10 µm
â–ª ISO Cone Angle improved from 100° to 125°
â–ª Structural resolution improved from 90 µm to 50 µm
â–ª Higher laser power and High ISO mode for better data coverage on dark, shiny parts
â–ª Boot-up time reduced from 27 seconds to 14 seconds
â–ª Increased 16V input voltage providing better signal quality on larger CMMs (longer cables)
â–ª New layout of storage flight-case
In addition, Nikon Metrology has launched a new wireless data communication technology for both its LC15Dx and L100 laser scanners. With Industry 4.0 and the interconnection of machines, controls and software on the shop floor constantly gathering pace, there is an increasing requirement for inspection devices that can communicate wirelessly. Absence of cabling facilitates integration closer to the point of manufacturing, shortening the closed-loop feedback path of metrology data and hence speeding response time, while also eliminating having to plan for additional wiring.
