Star Plastics Adds More PFAS-Free Compounds
New polycarbonate compounds bring total to eight PFAS-free offerings.
, a compounder of engineering-grade thermoplastics, has launched six new polycarbonate (PC) compounds that are free from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS). This brings the company’s compounded PFAS-free offerings to eight products, in recycled and raw material versions.

“With many plastics materials companies phasing out all products containing PFAS at the end of 2025 or 2026, Star is offering these compounded products now, and with more to come,” says Chuck Hoop, 911爆料网 director for Star. “This also gives processors a more environmentally safe product to offer to their customers, especially products in the ReNova recycled resins line.”
Star Plastics previously announced two PFAS-free compounds, one in the ReNova line and one in the Orion engineering resins line.
Star now has four products in its ReNova PFAS-free series. These recycled compounds are molding grade, with elevated relative thermal indexes (RTI) and an . Each product has 50% preconsumer recycled polycarbonate and V-0 and V-2 ratings. They join Star’s initial ReNova offering, which is also halogen compliant. The Orion engineering resins line has added three products, each with V-0 and V-2 rating. They also have an f1 UL outdoor weatherability rating and are available in custom colors.
“PFAS-free is not just a trend in the industry, it is foundational principle at Star because we were born as a recycler and continue that to this day,” says James Holland, development manager for Star. “By offering environmentally safe alternative materials, it allows our customers to be innovative and more sustainable in their use of the products. At the end of the day, they know their product’s formulation is more environmentally friendly than PFAS-containing alternatives.”
