Cypet Technologies, a Cyprus-based builder of one-stage injection stretch-blow molding (ISBM) machines, is showing the latest achievements in large PET products made on its equipment. These include new sizes and styles of handled and stackable PET containers, including novel interlocking products:
- A novel PET agricultural application in Mexico is a 434-mm-long tube, 40-mm wide, with a pointed tip in the unstretched base, which enables it to be driven into the soil to serve as a support for growing crops. Molded in 16 cavities, it requires tight tolerances for the base to interlock with the neck of an identical part, so that five parts can be connected end to end to make structure that extends 2 meters above the ground.
- Cypet’s first 60-L stackable industrial container with twin integral handles is a new entry in a market where the typical size for such a container is 20 L, according to Sideris.
- Cypet is highlighting three other containers that are not “firsts” in the industry, but have not been molded before on its machines: A PET jar with a weight-saving blown neck, made by molding a dome above the neck and then removing it with a spin trimmer; a 20 L container for edible oil and chemicals with four-high stackability (versus three-high previously); and a family of PET jars with a deep groove grip, from 1.3 L to 2.2 L.
