Two High Temperature-Resistant Grades of Nylon 66 Debut
Vydyne debuts two new grades of PA66 designed for demanding automotive applications that are capable of withstanding prolonged exposure at 210 C and 230 C.
Ascend Performance Materials, the world’s largest fully integrated producer of nylon 6,6 resin, will introduce XHT, a new series of extreme heat-resistant Vydyne at NPE2018. The new series will debut with two grades designed for demanding automotive applications and capable of withstanding prolonged exposure at 210 C and 230 C.
Utilizing modifications in both polymer and heat stabilization technologies, the Vydyne XHT series is an alternative to higher cost materials typically specified for these applications. It will provide OEMs and tier one suppliers more reliable parts in high-heat under-the-hood applications, like charge air coolers and air ducts.
“This is a step change in Ascend’s heat resistance portfolio,” says Scott Rook, Ascend’s vice president of nylon. “The XHT series helps meet the increasing demands placed on today’s vehicles and allows our customers to target several new applications.”
Ascend will be exhibiting at booth S14001 at NPE2018 in Orlando, from May 7-11.
